Authenticity

Hanging and care

Hang away from direct sun and heaters. Roll from the bottom, painting side in. Never fold. Dust with a soft dry brush; never use water on the painted surface.

Why this one

White Tara, the Tara of long life, painted in the black-and-gold (nagtang) style. She sits in full lotus with the seven eyes of compassion — on her brow, palms and soles — her right hand in the gesture of giving and her left holding the stem of a blue lotus at her heart. Red Amitabha sits above her, with two lineage teachers in the upper corners. Below are Amitayus and Ushnishavijaya, completing the three long-life deities.

The gold line work is dense across the clouds, mountains and throne; colour is kept for the jewels, the halo and the lower figures, so the white figure stands out against the black ground.

Painted on a single cotton canvas, unmounted. Ships rolled in a rigid tube from Sydney, or we can arrange a silk brocade mount.
